Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is a threatening condition in which there is inadequate blood flow of oxygen to a patient’s legs due to clogged, narrowed, or blocked arteries. Critical Limb Ischemia (CLI) is the advanced stage of Peripheral Arterial Disease, which can often lead to tissue loss and eventually amputation if left untreated.

Minimally Invasive Treatment Options for PAD
Angiograms
Angiograms are minimally invasive diagnostic procedure used to confirm the presence of disease. In this procedure, the doctor will enter your artery through a small opening in the skin and guide a wire through the vasculature. Using a liquid contrast that is visible on xray, the doctor is able to see how open the arteries are and decide whether or not intervention needs to occur.

Stents are small metal mesh tubes that may accompany balloon angioplasty that help the vessel remain open.
Atherectomy
There are many forms and devices for Atherectomy, but all of them allow for the removal of plaque (cholesterol, fat, and calcium deposits) in order to return the elasticity of the blood vessel.
